ASTTBC recognizes the ongoing impact of wildfires across British Columbia and the significant challenges facing individuals, families, communities and First Nations affected by evacuations, property loss and disruptions to work and daily life.

ASTTBC is committed to supporting registrants who are experiencing hardship as a result of the wildfires.

Support for ASTTBC registrants

Fee reductions or waivers

If the wildfires have resulted in a loss of income or otherwise affected your ability to pay your ASTTBC fees, you may be eligible to request a reduction or waiver of your annual fees under ASTTBC’s Fee Reduction and Waiver Policy.

CPD extensions and accommodations

If you are unable to meet your CPD requirements because you have been affected by the wildfires, you may be eligible to request an extension or other accommodation. Please review the CPD Extension & Accommodation Policy for information on how to make a request.

Supporting your well-being

Wildfires, evacuations and uncertainty can be stressful and may affect both physical and mental wellbeing. People impacted by emergencies may experience difficulty sleeping, increased heart rate, upset stomach or other physical and emotional responses.

Some steps that may help include:

  • Take care of yourself: Spend time with family and friends, stay active and make time for activities that help you manage stress.
  • Maintain a routine: Where possible, maintain regular meals, sleep and physical activity.
  • Limit information consumption: Rely on one or two trusted sources for updates rather than constantly monitoring the news and social media.

Stay informed and safe

During an emergency, your safety and the safety of your family and community should come first. Follow the latest evacuation orders, alerts and other emergency information from EmergencyInfoBC.
