ASTTBC publishes standards of competence and practice guidelines and lists a series of external guides relating to practice across a number of different fields. These resources are intended to provide guidance to ASTTBC registrants, outlining expectations of their professional practice.

Registrants are required to conduct themselves in accordance with all applicable standards of competence and practice guidelines pursuant to section 85 of the ASTTBC Bylaws. Registrants are also expected to be familiar with and meet all legal requirements and obligations stipulated by the authority having jurisdiction when they undertake engineering technology and/or applied science technology work.

Registrants should only undertake work for which they are registered and competent. Registrants must also only practice independently and/or take professional responsibility for their work when permitted to do so by law.
