TechAbility was a research and innovation project funded by the government of British Columbia and managed by ASTTBC. It assessed innovative and collaborative approaches for connecting career-oriented job seekers who had disabilities/diverse abilities to technical occupations in BC.
The project graduated 43 research participants who took part in a one-week career exploration training program followed by job shadowing and mentorship opportunities. This was used to develop a framework and matrix of 20 different technical occupations ideal for people with disabilities/diverse abilities.
The Framework Matrix and other resources identified through the project are now available to support the employment integration of people with disabilities/diverse abilities in technical occupations.
