Indigenous Awareness Training
Dates: 03/01/2021 - 12/31/2022
While the annual CPD requirement is 20 hours/points, in 2021, practising registrants are only required to complete an adjusted total of 12 CPD hours, minimum two (2) of which must be on the topic of Indigenous Awareness. Please review ASTTBC’s 2021 CPD Requirements & Reporting guide for detailed information and FAQ.
Note: While Indigenous Awareness CPD is mandatory for all practising registrants, ASTTBC recognizes that taking the course may cause hardship for Indigenous registrants and requests for accommodation should be sent to Jason Jung, director, professional practice & development at email@example.com.
About IAC Training
ASTTBC has partnered with Indigenous Awareness Canada (AIC) to provide complimentary training to all practising registrants. Cultural awareness and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples in BC are required among regulatory bodies as part of their mandatory continuing education programs.
By learning about Indigenous Peoples, registrants will create greater understanding and enhance communications between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people and help build more trusting and respectful relationships, communities and employment opportunities.
IAC course(s) meet all the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada recommendations which include education on Indigenous history, the legacy of residential schools, treaties and Indigenous rights, Indigenous law, Indigenous-crown relations, human rights, and anti-racism.
Through ASTTBC, practising registrants can take the IAC 101 Introduction course (worth 1 CPD hour/point), as well as the 201 Certification course (worth 6 CPD hours/points). Upon initial registration, each registrant will have access to the course for six months. This course offer will expire on December 31, 2022.
