2017 ASTTBC Professional Achievement Award – Presented to Mark McDonald, AScT
Mark epitomizes the role of a technologist in modern society. Over his fourty-year career, he has committed to ensuring the safety of the public, engaged in lifelong learning, and contributed to the development of a new generation of technologists.
Mark recently retired from fourteen years as the Program Head of BCIT’s Chemical Science, Electrical, and Mechanical Technology program. In addition to his teaching and program head duties, Mark also served as the coordinator for BClT’s Non-Destructive Testing Centre as well as serving on various BCIT committees, including the Research Ethics Board.
Prior to joining the faculty at BCIT, Mark held positions at BC Hydro Research and Development Division and the Department of National Defense – Metallurgy and Non-Destructive Testing Group.
