Obituary: Donald Fredrick Bealle, AScT
Don Bealle, AScT (Member #355 since 1965) passed away peacefully on October 12, 2017, at the age of 85. Don began his career at BC Engineering, which later became BC Hydro, and soon became an entrepreneur, developing Canadian Dynamics Ltd. In 1967 and a decade later establishing CD Nova Ltd – a Canadian distributor of Instrumentation for Power, Process, Utility and Environmental markets. Don worked with CD Nova Ltd alongside his wife Alma and business partner Bruce Fleming, until he retired in 2012. Raised in Vancouver, Don attended Vancouver Technical Secondary School. There were no institutions in Canada that offered electronics programs at the time, so Don went to Capital Radio Engineering Institution (CREI) in Washington DC to earn a Technologist Degree in Electronics in 1955. Don was a beloved husband and father who enjoyed family travel and the outdoors, a long-time supporter of ASTTBC and the technology community, and an enthusiastic fan of local sports teams like the Vancouver Canucks and BC Lions.
