After the luncheon, keynote speaker Tim Smith presents ‘Professionalism under Pressure’. Tim Smith is an engineering geologist who usually deals with natural disasters, such as landslides after they occur.  When the 7.8-magnitude Gorkha earthquake struck, he was in Nepal on a climbing expedition, about 1.5-hour walk from Everest Base Camp.  In his presentation, Mr Smith describes the event, its impact, what it is like to survive a major earthquake, and what type of feelings it causes.  He also highlights the similarities between BC and Nepal, and discusses some of the things British Columbians need to be prepared for when the “Big One” hits.
