ASTTBC Congratulates Keith Switzer on Receiving the Comeback Athlete of the Year Award

ASTTBC Past President Keith Switzer AScT received the Harry Jerome Comeback Athlete of the Year Award.  ASTTBC joins with many in sport to congratulate Keith on being named for this special recognition. Keith suffered a cardiac arrest while playing his favourite sport, curling, and following special surgery using remote control “robotic” surgical techniques, Keith’s blocked main coronary artery was bypassed to restore normal heart function. In weeks Keith was up and at it again and preparing his return to sport (tennis and curling).  Fortunately, due largely to the response of those present at the curling competition with their immediate and effective application of CPR and use of an AED to restore the heart function, Keith was given this second chance. Keith’s Men’s Masters curling team won the last provincial Championship in March of 2016 and went on to place 4th nationally in Nova Scotia in April. CONGRATS Keith! We are glad you are still with us and contributing to the ASTTBC Nominating Committee and as a Past President of the Association.
