Today is Giving Tuesday – Help the Youth of Today Become the Techs of Tomorrow!

At the ASTTBC Technology Awards 2016: (l – r) ASTTBC Foundation Board Chair Dan Mooney, AScT, CPWI 1 with ASTTBC Foundation award recipients Daniel Siemens and Travis Van Vliet.

After Black Friday and Cyber Monday comes Giving Tuesday! This is a day to give back to our communities by supporting our favorite charities.

One charity that is uniquely relevant to ASTTBC members is the ASTTBC Foundation. Established in 1990, the Foundation supports bursaries and awards for post-secondary technology students, and science and technology education and awareness in BC.

Charitable donations to the ASTTBC Foundation are tax creditable. GIVE a gift today!

Over the past quarter century, ASTTBC and the Foundation have provided over $600,000 in support for awards and bursaries for post secondary students, and science and technology learning activities for Kindergarten to Grade 12.

Each year, the Foundation provides approximately $50,000 in support of technology learning in BC. One $1,000 bursary is offered directly from the ASTTBC Foundation each year to a Grade 12 student who is a child or a grandchild of an ASTTBC member.

The Foundation has an Endowed Fund of $625,000. This Fund will help the youth of today to become the techs of tomorrow, for generations to come.

The Foundation receives many letters of appreciation from grateful bursary and award recipients. Here is one example: “Thank you for your support and generosity. I’ve had a very full course load and my wife has been taking care of our new son, so finances have been tight. This award will help me to finish my diploma and move forward as a professional technologist. I am honored and proud to have been selected for this award.”
