Minister Virk & ASTTBC Talk Technology & Innovation

A summer meet at Minister Amrik Virk’s constituency office, a few blocks from the ASTTBC office, served as the venue for a creative chat about technology, ASTTBC members’ role in contributing to BC’s economy, and subjects of common interest to the Ministry and ASTTBC. Amrik Virk is Minister of Technology, Innovation and Citizens’ Services and is MLA for Surrey-Tynehead. As a result of the meeting ASTTBC will consider how best to identify how well members are adapting to technological change and reflect on their approach to innovation.

Three representatives from ASTTBC met with the Minister (left to right in photo): Jason Jung, AScT, Manager, Professional Practice & Development; Minister Virk; CEO John Leech, AScT, CAE; and, a Public Representative on the ASTTBC Council, Rob Campbell, PEng. “The Minister was very engaged during our meeting,” said Rob Campbell. “He obviously knows ASTTBC well and the role and contribution of our more than 10,000 members.” Minister Virk indicated interest in ASTTBC’s work in better quantifying the role of ASTTBC Technology Professionals through labour market studies and various surveys.

It was a great conversation!
