Host international symposium on technician education and training

First 'Limited Licence' in Engineering issued to an AScT
Produce TechWORKS! video and teachers' guide and distribute to every high school in British Columbia

Memorandum of Understanding with Professional Biologists.

Introduce dental plan and discounts on home mortgages as new member services
Start 'Techworks! High School Project' with a grant from HRDC and organize 60 technology work placements for students in three school districts

Publish Member Compensation Survey '99 on Web.
Introduce 3 additional member services.
Prior Learning Assessment Review (PLAR) added to certification process.
2000
Sign Memorandum of Understanding with the Corporation of Land Surveyors of BC.
2001
Form Joint Task Force with APEGBC to investigate enhanced strategic alliance.
ASTTBC members included as 'Qualified Professionals' in Municipal Sewage Regulations and in Streamside Protection Regulations.
2002
Council 'approval-in-principle' for the merger of ASTTBC and APEGBC; agreement to transfer members in forest resource technology to the Association of BC Forest Professionals.
2003
Revised Foresters Act includes Registered Forest Technologists. Forest tech’s transferred to the Association of BC Forest Professionals.
2004
Proposed merger with APEGBC called off by Councils of both Associations. ASTTBC continued its work to ensure all qualified. Registered professionals are appropriately recognized in government legislation
2005
ASTTBC hosts ‘Building Careers In Technology’ conference that addresses the need for technologists and technicians in a time of coming skills shortage. It brought together industry, educators, government and associations and lead to the ‘Shaping Our Future’ position paper.
A general Member Survey was conducted in 2005 to provide Council with input for strategic directions.
2006
ASTT e-News implemented. Member Compensation Survey conducted.
